TOWN BOARD MEETING
TOWN OF CALUMET
Town Hall December 27, 2017
Present: 5 7:00 PM
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Bruce Peterson. Present Chairman Bruce
Peterson, Supervisors Ken Lefeber, and Steve Koenigs.
The agenda was posted at the Town Hall, fire house, National Exchange Bank, and on the
Town of Calumet website.
Motion Lefeber, seconded Koenigs to approve the agenda as posted. Motion carried.
Motion Lefeber, seconded Koenigs to approve the minutes of the December 5, 2017 Town
Board Meeting as read with the correction in the wording as follows: to adopt an ordinance
for the tax collection process. Motion carried.
Motion Lefeber, seconded Koenigs to approve the treasurer’s report as read. Motion carried.
Motion Peterson, seconded Lefeber to pay all bills as presented in the amount of $20,823.37.
Motion Peterson, seconded Lefeber to make the following budget adjustments:
Clerk - $143.37 out of office supplies, $112.13 out of mileage, $13.05 out of computer,
Add $165.16 to publications, $11.91 to postage, and $91.48 to Miscellaneous.
Treasurer - $312.75 out of contingency to printer, $324.48 out of postage, $177.50 to computer,
$193.57 to office supplies, and $53.41 to mileage.
Assessor - $90.08 out of contingency, $30.00 to meetings, and $60.08 to mileage.
Board of Appeals - $153.88 new revenue, $130.00 to wages, $1.10 to FICA, $and $22.78 to mileage.
Constable - $7.14 out of wages, $7.14 to expense.
Recycle - $1983.62 out of contingency, $444.33 to Garbage PU, and $1539.20 to Recycle PU.
Transportation - $17142.66 out of Contingency $392.10 to wages, $389.49 to FICA, $67.02 to
miscellaneous, $168.85 to equipment repair, $259.03 to salt, $2457.87 to ditching/grading,
and $13508.30 to blacktop.
The following bids were received for the Kiel Road Bridge Repair:
Fond du Lac County Hwy - $38,545.00 – Repair culvert wash out on Kiel Road.
G&H Trucking – Repair waterway on Kiel Road – 100’ north and 40’ south.
Included in bid: Dig out and reshape.
Deliver and place stone.
Total for excavating and fabric: $7,726.25
Option #1 Shot Rock – All stone hauled in will be charged out as actual amounts
used. We figured approximately 709 ton will be needed @ $10.18 per ton delivered.
Estimated total for shot rock: $7,217.62
Option #2 Large Rip Rap All stone hauled in will be charged out at actual amounts
used. We figured approximately 709 ton stone will be needed @ $28.26 per ton
Estimate total for large rip rap: $20,036.34
Total Project Option #1 $14,943.87
Total Project Option #2 $27,762.59
Halbach Excavating LLC – Restoration of creek bottom and slopes
Dig out debris and shape the creek bottom and banks
Install erosion control mat and cover with a Heavy rip rap material
Motion Peterson, seconded Lefeber to work with G&H Excavating on the bridge washout and combine
Option #1 and Option #2. Motion carried.
The following bid was received for the repair of five sodium wall packs as follows:
5 – wall packs @ $197.24 $986.20
3 hrs labor, 2 guys and truck 300.00
New Wall Packs
5 – LED WALPAK @ $258.75 $1,293.74
3 hours labor, 2 guys, and truck 300.00
Motion Lefeber, seconded Koenigs to install five new LED wall paks for the outside of the town
hall in the amount of $1,593.74. Motion carried.
Motion Peterson, seconded Koenigs to approve the conditional use from 2.4 acres under Farmland
Preservation and the CSM for Ken Danes as recommended by the Plan Commission. Motion carried.
Motion Peterson, seconded Koenigs to approve Joe Ziegler’s conditional use permit to build a
house. Motion carried.
Motion Peterson, seconded Lefeber to not approve the CSM for Mike Muellenbach until it meets the standards of ten acres or more. Motion carried.
Motion Peterson, seconded Lefeber to approve the following poll workers for the period
January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2019 as follows: Mary Horsch, Marta Rake, Marlys Casper,
Sue Burlingham, Ann Schmitz, Chris Eickhoff, and Mary Sattler. The elections for 2018 are as
Follows: Feb. 20 – Primary, April 3 – Spring Election, Aug. 14 – Partisan Primary, and Nov. 6 –
General Election. Motion carried.
Motion Peterson, seconded Koenigs to approve the snow removal ordinance as approved by
Attorney Steve Sager. Voice vote as follows: Peterson – yes, Lefeber – yes, and Koenigs – yes.
Motion carried by voice vote.
Motion Peterson, seconded Koenigs to adjourn the meeting. Motion carried.
